Blogs & Newsletters

As a pop culture specialist, cataloguer and copywriter at Julien’s Auctions, I curated high-profile auctions and researched, wrote, and co-designed accompanying catalogs. Here are sample pages from some of my favorites.

Chiller TV

Chiller was an American cable and satellite television network that was owned by NBCUniversal under Comcast. It later opened its own film production company as well. Chiller specialized in horror, thriller and suspense programming. It operated from 2007-2017.

I co-wrote a weekly listicle column called “The Friday 13,” profiling all aspects of the horror genre from the mainstream to the obscure. The column supported the network’s brand and promoted its website and programming by communicating that they were by and for fans.

Julien's Auctions

Collaborating with the famous and the exclusive, Julien’s Auctions produces high profile auctions in the film, music, art, fashion, and luxury markets. Julien’s Auctions has received international recognition for its unique and innovative auction events, which attract thousands of collectors, investors, fans and enthusiasts from around the world. Julien’s specializes in sales of iconic artifacts and notable collections. Based in Los Angeles, Julien’s has a global presence bringing their auctions and exhibitions to targeted destinations worldwide including London, New York, Las Vegas, Japan and China. Live auctions are presented for bidders on-site and online via live streaming video and mobile technology.

As a pop culture specialist and in-house copywriter at Julien’s, I wrote weekly articles for The Icon, a newsletter used to promote high profile, multi-million dollar auctions in the film, music, art, and sports markets and the auction house’s brand by profiling notable items for sale.

Shout! Factory

Shout! Studios is a multiplatform media company specializing in film and TV distribution, development, and production. The company has evolved with the changing entertainment landscape to excel in all forms of content distribution, including theatrical, digital streaming, broadcast and in-flight licensing, physical media, and more.

I wrote a series of blogs for the company’s subsidiary Shout! Factory, which specializes in Blu Ray and DVD releases of contemporary and classic film and television. The blog drew visitors to the company’s online store, promoted its new releases, and illustrated that the brand is rooted in pop culture expertise.

UCLA Barbra Streisand Center For The Study of Women

The UCLA Center for the Study of Women I Barbra Streisand Center works towards a world in which education and scholarship are tools for social justice feminism, improving the lives of people of all genders.

The internationally recognized center for research on gender, sexuality, and women’s issues is the first organized research unit of its kind in the University of California system. CSW I Streisand Center is funded by the Division of Social Sciences, though it serves the entire university. CSW I Streisand Center is part of the Division’s commitment to gender equity and research parity at UCLA. Its mission is to develop and foster research, to facilitate productive scholarly relationships, and to aid recruitment and retention efforts.

As a graduate student researcher at CSW from 2007 to 2015 (before the Streisand Center’s establishment in 2021), I contributed frequently to the center’s publication unit. Through blogs, an online newsletter, and policy briefs, the unit publicized and generated user engagement with the center’s events and projects, and highlighted new research taking place at the center. Here is some of my work.
